At New York Martial Arts Gym, we offer classes in Submission Wrestling for MMA and Sport Grappling as well as Classes in Sport Jiu-jitsu without the Gi (Submission Grappling).
Our Submission Wrestling Class focuses on both Greco and Freestyle Takedowns, Body Position, Control and Submissions including Leg Locks.
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is the foundation of modern Submission Wrestling/Submission Grappling and BJJ Black Belts are always the current Top Champions of Submission Wrestling tournaments - like Marcelo Garcia, a BJJ Black Belt World Champion, who is Abu Dhabi Champion and considered one of the best No Gi Grapplers in the world. Modern Submission Grappling made up of Wrestling Takedowns and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu on the Ground, where most of the points are scored and where all of the submissions occur. In order to be successful at Submission Grappling Tournaments or in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), a student must have good takedowns and knowlege of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
We teach both Recreational Beginners and Competitors alike. Athletes at NYMAG have gone on to compete in Submission Grappling and No Gi BJJ tournaments and have claimed titles at some of the most prestigious competitions in the world such as the Pan American and World BJJ Championships.
